Stella for CIF

Cif are cleaning the roof of the O2! The O2 arena’s roof will take 72 days to complete. The iconic multi-purpose indoor venue in Greenwich, London, is currently midway through a dramatic make-over as part of Cif’s ‘Before & After Project’, which will see the 50 metre building receive a spruce up using the floor cleaning product.

The lengthy project, which aims to turn the building’s roof back to its bright white colour, is being documented on the the brand’s official Facebook page and website. To help promote the project CIF called on PetLondon Models to provide a cat to star in their viral video.

CIF

The chosen kitty was Perla the Persian, a stunning female cat who is almost pure white but with some striking markings. She attended for filming in a location flat specially selected because of its view of the O2 from its living room window.

Perla was given some time to explore the new environment and settle in and she particularly enjoyed chilling on the windowsill. For one of the scenes the female actor was to hold Perla whilst speaking to the camera. Perla was happy to oblige in a cuddle and show off her gorgeous coat to the camera.

PERLA CIF

Perla is a true professional and as usual gave an outstanding performance for the client. You can watch some of the final footage below and this is being aired across CIF’s social media channels and as viral videos.

Arthur for DogBuddy

A fun and very hands-on  job that came into PetLondon HQ was one requiring a medium sized dog with lots of personality and the ability to do various actions including some active jumping on set. The assignment was for DogBuddy. They are a company that will find Dog sitters, Dog walkers and Dog boarding services near you. Dog Buddy aim to provide a comfortable and caring home from home.

photo.jpg

DogBuddy were planning a big campaign shoot for a some promotional images to appear on the London Underground. Their campaign message was all about promoting the fact that you would not spend your holiday in cage so why should your dog?

Once a full brief had come in with all the actions required and that the dog should have a very expressive face, we set to working matching up the perfect PetLondon Model for this unique shoot. Lots of of options went back and forth but it was Arthur who was chosen in the end as the perfect model. Arthur is a three and half year old Labradoodle. He is a happy-go-lucky dog who absolutely love attention and meeting new people.

arthur4.jpg

Arthur arrived at the studio very excited and ready to get his perfect shots. He had a quick prep and got to know everyone on set including the crew and make-up-artist. We do not really use make-up on the animals but this made for a fun picture and Arthur enjoyed being pampered!

arthur3.jpg

Arthur really enjoyed all the attention being on him and could not wait to get started in front of the camera. He knew he was the real star of the day.

giphy.gif

Arthur has done several theatre rolls and is very well trained in Agility, he often competes in outdoor shows. He was more than willing to show off how fun it was to jump over his hurdle. In post-production the hurdle could be edited out to show Arthur’s action leaps.

111There were some real humans at the shoot too and they were the ones who had to sit in a “cage” whilst Arthur was free to roam about and have fun. Here is one of the final shots. The playful message showed some role reversal to promote a cage-free holiday for your dog.

Arthur took everything in his stride and had an excellent time! He loved all the attention on set and had a fabulous adventure.

Look out for his friendly face on the London Underground, he is sure to make you smile.

Dinner With Poppy

Feeding your pup is a meaty affair. Supermarket aisles are chockablock with dog food and treats, claiming to do everything from cleaning your pups teeth to teaching an old dog new tricks. A lot of what is on offer is heavily processed, and not as natural or healthy as the packaging would have you believe! A quick Google of dog food ingredients is enough to put you off the tinned stuff for life.

Every dog is different, and there is no perfect answer, but one of the easiest ways to know what your dog is eating is to put it together yourself. If the idea of cooking for your canine gets you into a cold sweat, don’t fear! PetLondon are here to give you a helping hand. It is not as tedious and messy as you might think, so put your nicest pinny on and rustle up a little gourmet feast for your pup tonight.

(Just a quick reminder before we get into the good stuff, PetLondon wouldn’t recommend overhauling your dogs diet overnight, any big changes can make their tummies funny. Take the time to slowly tweak their diet)

Choosing the ingredients for your dogs meal is as easy as 1, 2, 3. You need the energy, the greens and the protein. We’ve jotted down Poppy’s favourites to give you an idea:

The Energy: Brown Rice or Sweet Potato

The Greens (and the orange): Poppy loves kale, green beans, brocolli and spinach. Feel free to pick and mix your veg of choice, just avoid garlic and onions. If in doubt- Google! There are lots of lists of dog friendly fruit and veg, and we’ve got a couple saved to our Pinterest page.

The Protein: Turkey, beef or chicken.

The Extras: Poppy gets an adult multi-vitamin, and Pro-fibre (available from all good veterinarians).

You can rustle up a batch of your energy on a Sunday afternoon, if you have a spare thirty minutes pop a big pot of rice on the stove or throw a couple of sweet potatoes in the oven to bake. Once cooked, let it cool down before storing in your fridge.

Poppy has all her veg steamed, but choose whatever method works for you. You want it soft enough to dice up with the rest of the dinner, whether that means boiling your carrots or sautéing your spinach, do what works for you!

You can cook up your protein in advance too, Sunday afternoons are the perfect time to get busy in the kitchen and will make it easier for the rest of the week. If you’re making a Sunday roast for yourself, cook a little extra meat and put it aside for your pup. (Do make sure you don’t put any seasoning or sauce over the meat you’ll feed your pup though!) Meat won’t last the whole week, but you can prep enough for a couple of days.

Each evening muddle together your energy, greens and protein. Mix it together in the same way you would for a small child, and your pup will never notice they’re chomping down on kale.

Poppy also has an adult dog vitamin and Pro-fibre with her meal, they both go down easily by smashing the vitamin into a fine powder and stirring  them both through her dinner.

Have fun getting creative in the kitchen, and if you do decide to cook for your pup take a photo and tag us @PetLondon– Poppy would love to see your doggy dinners!

Bulldogs and Hummus!

A casting call came in for a great looking male Bulldog who would get on well with children and was able to literally eat out of their hands by licking their fingers! This job was for Sabra for a commercial they were filming in London.

PetLondon Models had the ideal Bulldog for this client. Sweet Louie is a loveable 5 year old English Bulldog who gives a great high five amongst a host of other skills. He resides in London with his human siblings who are both youngsters.

Sabra Dipping Company, LLC is a U.S.-based company which produces food products including dips, salsa and spread and one of their most popular lines is their classic hummus.

The commercial was to promote “The Unofficial Meal™”. As they explained; Call it “The thing before the thing.” Call it “Appy hour.” Heck, call it whatever you want. We’ll call it “The Unofficial Meal™.” And we promise it’ll be the best-tasting meal of the day.

An upbeat and lively ad the cast consisted of a group adults and kids and the star of the show, a Bulldog named “Josephine” played by Louie.

image1.JPG

Louie was chilled out on set and was not phased by the lights or cameras, just like a true professional….

Louie tried out lots of different actions but the winning formula was his signature high five. We are delighted to share with you the footage below showing him in action.

Louie was loved by everyone on set and received a great review from the booking agency “Thank you so much to Sina and Louie today. He’s amazing, he was just wandering around being chilled and letting everyone pet him. Everyone loved him especially our American clients”.

Bulldogs and Louie in particular are in high demand (they are one of PetLondon Models top 10 requested breeds!) so watch this space to hear more about his adventures!

Pet Friendly Florida

More and More pets now than ever are now joining their parents on family vacations these days. Travel to and from the UK is not easy but if you have a small dog and are willing to travel via France then getting to America with your animal in the cabin with you is possible.

Poppy our founding dog and mascot in the PetLondon logo is fortunate to have spent much time in Florida where her Daddy is from and would like to share with you some of her top tips for vacationing with your pet in this sunny paradise. Here are a selection of her top five favourite things about spending time in the Sunshine State.

  1. Dog Strollers are the Norm and Dogs are Welcome to Shop

Chances are you will want to partake in some retail therapy during your trip. Our top recommendation is the Town Centre Mall in Boca Raton. Its never too crowded and has a good selection of shops. One thing you will quickly notice if you visit any mall in Florida is that if you take a second look at all those strollers rolling past you, probably about 75% of them will contain not the usual two-legged infants but some very adorable four-legged friends. It seems the general policy is that so long as the pet is being carried or is in a stroller then they are very welcome in the shops.

stroller

Over the years, Poppy has owned a selection of strollers and here she is in her three-wheeler. The nice thing for Poppy is she can see where she is going, interact with people and then when she has had enough, there is plenty of room to curl up and go to sleep in peace and in her own private space. Its also got a handy storage space underneath to hold all the shopping and even a cup holder for your cappuccino!

Whilst strollers can of course be used in any country, if you have ever used one in the UK you are probably used to a lot of looks of surprise and shock. In the USA you will fit right in and be amongst many others using the same mode of transport for indoor shopping!

Here are a selection we saw on one shopping trip to Town Centre; A West Highland Terrier, A Cavalier King Charles and Maltese, all enjoying a day of shopping with their pet parents.

Another really useful item for shopping malls is a pet sling. If you are just quickly nipping in then this is fast and easy to use. We spotted this really cute little guy in Shaper Image. He seemed to be really chilled and is just “Hanging Out”!

2. Dog Beaches are a blast

One of Poppy’s true zen moments in life occur when she is on the beach. There is something about the feel of sand underneath her paws and the smell of the fresh ocean breeze that seems such a far cry from pounding the urban pavements of Marylebone. Poppy who is not much of an athlete usually, will happily run and frolic in the sand for hours or enjoys just digging in and inhaling the ocean breeze.

Dogs are not allowed on all beaches in Florida so you will need to do some research but most areas have a designated patch of beach that you can use at certain times of day. Be aware of one important thing though, you may need to purchase day permit to use the beach for a day or a weekend which can normally be done at an office right next to the space.

beach

Poppy’s favourite spot is the Dog Beach in Boca Raton (Spanish River Park 3001 North Ocean Blvd., Between Lifeguard Towers 18 and 20). It is not as busy as you would expect and we practically had the place to ourselves on her last visit. The one thing you do need to be aware of though is that at certain times of year there can be jellyfish right by the waters edge. This is the last thing you want your dog to step on or touch, so check carefully before letting them off lead. The beach is very wide so you can easily stay above the tidal line if needed.

If your dog is the type that will enjoy a swim then stay safe and make sure you bring a dog life jacket with you too.

3. Dog Parks are a lot of fun

Florida is very pet friendly with special dog parks in most areas. A quick google search will help you to find your closest one. Normally there are separate areas for small dogs and larger breeds so that you can safely let them off the lead to interact with some new friends as long as they are well socialised.

scavopark 1.jpg

Our recommendation is the Joseph Scavo Park in Hallandale. It has recently been renovated. Its a nice place to enjoy the fabulous Florida weather and there are lots of activities to do including a fitness path and equipment for adults and a children’s playground.

There are always plenty of dogs around, especially at sunset and a very freindly community feel. Don’t forget your pick up bags, a water bowl (it can get very hot and you need to make sure your pet stays hydrated) and make sure your dog is up-to-date on all vaccinations before letting them interact with others.

4. Dog Menus are available

Another great thing about Florida is that the weather is so warm that you can dine outside at most places with your dog. Some restaurants even offer dog menus. Max’s Grill in Mizner Park is one of these places. You can select from a huge choice of dishes breakfast to dinner and a great brunch on Sundays.

Enter a caption

Your dog can choose from the Mizner Bark Menu, which ranges from a simple snack of some biscuits to a 8oz Filet Mignon.

When you are travelling its not always easy to prepare food for you dog, so this can come in especially handy.

You can also help your pup cool off on a hot day with a frozen peanut butter pupcake.

Poppy’s favourite is the “Chasing Chicken”.

Max’s Grill is located in Mizner Park, which is a nice place to stroll around for a few hours with shops, restaurants and a very luxurious movie theatre. It is always full of dogs so there will be plenty of new friends to meet.

5. Pet Products are everywhere

There are loads of pet product shops in Florida. You cannot drive more than a few blocks without coming across one. Whether its the mass chains like Pet Supermarket, grooming salons, dog health food shops or independent boutiques, you will find a great selection of items that are not available in the UK. Our top recommendation is the Dog Bar in South Beach.

Finally, we want to leave you with a serious HEALTH TIP! Florida struggles with Heartworms, something that is not commonly a problem or treated for in the UK. Any dog owner planning a vacation or trip to Florida with their pet should discuss Heatworm prevention with their veterinarian before the trip. Its very easy to handle with the correct preventative drops or tablets during your trip but something you need to be aware of.

Pug Love

We have had a busy few weeks at PetLondon Models, as Christmas creeps closer and agencies look to pull on the nation’s heartstrings with an adorable animal or two! One exciting -not to mention adorable- project we have been keeping under wraps involved three of our pugs. Regularly in demand, we have some very beautiful and talented Pugs on our books so were able to put forward lots of options to the client who needed three Pugs to take part in a two day shoot.

The shoot was an opportunity to be a little more creative, so we needed some really big characters to take part! After some agonising decision making by the client, Gizmo, Peggy Sue and Bruce Willis were chosen. The three of them were eager to be involved and soon trotted across London to take part in a two day shoot.

Gizmo was the star of the shoot as he landed the lead role, playing the bespectacled sidekick of a little boy in the lead up to Christmas. Seven year old Gabriel adored Gizmo, and the pair of them were inseparable for the whole two days on set- it was lovely to see their friendship blossoming!

“We had a blast, Gizmo loves the attention and dressing up so was right up his alley. Massive thank you to Adam who was amazing on both days, his hints and tips were a great help and most importantly how Gizmos well being was paramount to Adam and PetLondon which meant a lot to me.” Gizmo’s Owner Arti

It was the first time the three pugs had met each other so they had a little bit of time in the morning for a quick meet and greet (which also gave the cast time for some licks and cuddles). It didn’t take long for them to become firm friends, and they got to play together between shots.

The crew were very happy with the way the shoot went. Gizmo in particular was a real professional, as one of our most experienced Pugs he did exactly what was asked of him, the client commented ‘Gizmo was amazing’.

We are so excited to be able to share the final video with you all- take a look and let us know what you think!

As it was going to be one of our more challenging shoots, we sent along our expert animal trainer Adam to support the crew and models.

“It was a long couple of days but they all worked really hard and were a great team to work with. The crew went above and beyond to make the shoot look as good as possible- Gizmo and I particularly enjoyed the fake snow!” Adam our Animal Trainer

If you can’t get enough of Gizmo and his cheeky personality, we have an exclusive video showing some behind the scenes footage of what he got up to during the film shoot.

If you feel inspired by these pugs and this exciting shoot, you can learn a lot more about our PetLondon Modelling Agency here.
