It’s a nice warm, sunny, breezy Saturday in England. You’re enjoying the relaxing weekend. No stress. No worries. Not a care in the world. Your pups are around the yard playing with toys and enjoying nature. You’re planning on having company soon. They should be arriving any time now.
**A car pulls into your drive**
BARK. BARK. BARK. BARK. BARK.
‘There they go again’ you say. The dogs go hysterical. They won’t stop barking. It’s almost ear piercing. Company has arrived. So what do you do? You try telling them to be quiet. So the dogs begin barking even louder. And so the games begin. BARK. Be quiet. BARK. Be quiet. BARK. The dogs win.
Adam, our in-house animal-behaviour consultant says dogs just want something to talk about. When your dog barks and you tell them to be quiet in a raised voice, they really think you’re barking with them and so they’ll bark even louder.
What are your tips and tricks? We’d love to learn more about our furry friends. Comment below.
It’s almost officially summer here in London. That means it’s time to catch up on hot summer trends of 2016. As Elle Magazine puts it, here are “key ways to wear neon without looking like a traffic cone.”
PetLondon stays on top of seasonal trends. Our pet product lines are always updated to match current in-style fashion items for humans. This summer, neon will be a popular trendy fashion statement across the UK. We want to make sure your furry friends are hip for the summer.
PetLondon offers a variety of neon products that can be worn separately or coordinated. From harnesses, to hair bows, collars, and much more. We are confident these will be on trend for 2016 and perfect for your canine. These products are suitable for parks, vacations, and city walks. Wherever you go, passing dogs and owners will probably be super jealous of your pup.
The most recent accessories in our neon line are the Puppia Harnesses. This chic item comes in a variety of colors and sizes to fit most breeds of dog. No matter the occasion, your pooch will be looking picture perfect and fresh for the coming summer months.
The Puppia Neon Harness II is a RiteFit style. This means that the harness does not need to pass over your dogs head. It can be buckled up around them. This suits breeds that dislike having anything pass over their hand and also dogs with large heads relative to the size of their neck. The other bonus of this style of harness is that the shoulder straps can be adjusted, so you can make the neckline bigger if needed. This may be needed for dogs who are normally hard to fit or are in between sizes. Sturdy metal Double D rings for safety on the back, so you can clip your lead around both. The Neck has Velcro and two buckles for an exact fit! The chest belt is adjustable and fastens with a sturdy plastic buckle. Matching leads are available. They are vibrant and full of fun vibes. The inside of the harness is lined with a thin layer of breathable padding keeping your pup comfortable in this summer heat.
If you don’t want a harness, we’ve got you covered! PetLondon also offers Neon Glitter Collars. These dog collars come in a variety of colors and sizes. From a vibrant yellow to a hot pink, these collars are sure to catch eyes in the streets. They’re also great for safety reasons, keeping your pet highly visible.
Easily adjustable and a comfortable fit, these collars will make your pup stand proud as they walk down the street.
You can’t have a collar without a leash. Don’t forget to grab yourself a matching Neon Lead.
The Neon Leads come in a variety of colors and are super sturdy for both small and large dogs. Walks are good for people, but great for dogs. Make sure you keep your pup active this summer.
Accessorise your pooch! Now that your furry friend has a neon harness, collar, and lead, you’re going to want to make sure they are accessorised too. PetLondon carries a variety of accessories to beautify your canine. These Neon Hair Bows are fit for both male and female dogs.
Now that you have some ideas for your pooch, make sure you get out and start shopping today! You don’t want your pup behind on the latest trends. We have everything you need here at PetLondon. The showroom is open Monday – Friday 10:00am to 6:00pm and we are pet friendly. So bring your furry family. We love making new friends.

The brief came in for a couple of lucky PetLondon Dog Models to star in their Spring/Summer Campaign. At PetLondon HQ we were given a list of desired breeds and we set to work checking availability and putting forward a selection of animals for the client to choose from. The lucky chosen dogs were; Gizmo the Pug, Luna the Dalmation, Woody the Irish Terrier and Freddie the Parson Russell Terrier. They all headed of to a photographic studio in North Acton.
Upon arrival everyone got to meet the crew and it was clear that it was very fun summery “off on holidays” themed shoot. Our dogs were posing with their suitcases packed and their best summer gear to really get into the spirit!
Gizmo the Pug who certainly has his own summer wardrobe and accessories at home was straight on set and happy to pose getting packed up or relaxing on a deck chair. This charming and very photogenic pug always delivers on camera.
Freddie, is a eight year old Parson Russell Terrier. He is very good at posing for photos and has good obedience skills and agility. An active and fun loving boy he is food and toy motivated and fantastic with children and other dogs. With his very symmetrical facial markings he is a perfect model to photograph.
Luna is a four year old Dalmatian. Luna is very experienced on set and in front of the camera, she is a delight to work with and a stunning example of the breed.
Last but not least, Wolfie is a four year old Irish Terrier. He is very calm and excellent at fetching and recall. One of his favourite things to do is to play with a ball and roll around in the garden with children.
All the dogs and handlers involved on this shoot really enjoyed themselves. It was a fun day at the studio. They all performed excellently and were given a glowing review from the client. Well done everyone, we think the snaps are fabulous too!
The images from the shoot can currently be found on Boden’s media channels; online, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
“We were totally impressed by all of the dogs and handlers you sent us- the shoot went so smoothly and we got all of the shots we wanted!” Quote from Client emailed after the shoot
A dozen PetLondon Model dogs descended upon Knightsbridge to promote the launch of department store Harvey Nichols new menswear department that is selling clothes by 270 designers in Central London.
Harvey Nichols, founded in 1831, is a British department store chain with a flagship store in Knightsbridge, London. It sells fashion collections for men and women, fashion accessories, beauty products, wine and food.
To celebrate the grand opening of the newly refurbished and relaunched menswear department some talented dogs were called in from us. A total of three different breeds all in groups of four; Bulldogs, Greyhounds and Afghan Hounds. At PetLondon HQ there was a lot of preparatory work needed. We set to task putting together some quads who would be happy working together and also had to take a series of measurements that would be used to create some custom-made outfits for each dog.
Since some of these breeds were especially tricky shapes, this called for some of the owners to get creative with their sketch pads and we were especially impressed with some of the submissions.
The event called for a very early start and some of our models set off very early in order to make it in time for the 7am meet and greet. This was a chance for all the dogs to get familiar with each other and for the male model appointed to each group to get acquainted with his animals. All the dogs were in high spirits and excited by all the fuss and extra attention they were recieving.
First on the schedule was a photoshoot with a photographer outside the stores main entrance and also on the square to the side of the store. The dogs posed in their groups of four of a breed with the male models.
Each dog’s outfit co-ordinated with what the human model was wearing. The Bulldogs that included sisters Coco and Olive, along with Louie and Queenie were wearing raspberry pink polo shirts and navy gilets.
The Greyhounds’ outfit was our personal favourite, they were wearing tailored suits complete with shirt collars and ties. All of the dogs in this group were especially charming and friendly. They looked so professional and dapper and the colour scheme suited them perfectly.
Finally, the Afghan Hounds in their bright orange cashmere. These girls and boys were from different owners but all related in that they all shared the same father. It was a great chance for a family reunion and there was much excitement all round. These dogs are show-stoppers, with their elegant flowing locks that were blowing in the wind, they were impossible to miss.
A variety of fabulous shots were taken of all the dogs, both static and on the move. Many of these made it onto social media and into the evening press with a great response from the public.
After the still shots next was a promotional walk around the perimeter of the store to hand out Harvey Nichols goody bags to the surprised but exceed passers-by.
PetLondon Models also took some behind the scenes footage. Here you can see the Greyhound group doing one of their walks outside the Knightsbridge store. A lot of passers-by did a few double-takes. Its not every day you see such a sight, even in London!
We are used to last minute bookings coming in but this one was super short notice! The booking was only confirmed at 5.45pm on a Friday evening for the following Monday. As the office is closed on weekends, we had to put on our speedy skates and get working immediately on this one. The brief that came in was for a total of eight dogs needed for a photoshoot with The PetShop Boys for a cover and feature shoot for Attitude Magazine. The dogs had to all be small breeds and no two could be the same breed. They also all had to be “cute”, but what dog isn’t?
We pulled together a great line up of available dogs, these included; Nemo and his sister Minnie the Poodle, Lilliput the Maltese, Matilda the Yorkshire Terrier, Kipper the Pug, Lottie the Cavachon, Maisie the Westie and Abby the Shih Tzu.
Everyone was very efficient at confirming their availability right away and excited about the fun shoot ahead after the weekend. They had just a few days to get ready, most of them taking a bath and getting brushed up to look glamourous.
Monday lunchtime we all headed off to Big Sky studios in Kings Cross. The whole group was scheduled to come a little early for a pre-shoot meet and greet with our animal handler Adam. It was very exciting for the animals to meet all their new friends and dogs and handlers all had a fun time mingling. There were a whole range of dog treats to be shared out and testing your friends treat was a highlight for some! Kipper the pug was especially in his element as he was mostly surrounded by female co-models and could not believe his luck at hanging out with all these lovely ladies.
During this time the studio area was being prepared and set up. The dogs had some off the lead time to run around together and get relaxed in their new environment. This chill time is important for groups of animals to feel calm and comfortable together.
Then it was down to all the hard work. Each of the dogs was introduced to their co-stars, the Pet Shop Boys. Pet Shop Boys are an English electronic pop duo, formed in London in 1981 and consisting of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe. Pet Shop Boys have sold more than 50 million records worldwide, and are listed as the most successful duo in UK music history by The Guniess Book of Records. All that fame did not phase any of the canines and they each probably considered themselves the stars of the shoot.
First up, whilst energy was running high we decided to try for a possible cover shot. The set up was to be Neil and Chris sitting on a bright red sofa and literally surrounded by the dogs. It was a tight shot angle needed for the portrait shaped image so everyone had to squash in. A few of the little ones sat on laps and a couple of the dogs were positioned peeking over the back of the sofa. There were handlers on hand hiding behind the sofa to catch anyone who might have slid off!
For a few of the shots, some of the dogs had to wear some props such as hats or sunglasses.
Here Kipper tries on a hat, as you can see he was quite taken with it and everyone wanted to get a picture of him in it. Just to his right you can see Poppy keeping a watchful eye on things.
The next series of shots were having all the dogs on their leads and them all to be held at once by Neil or Chris. The dogs were arranged by Adam into two groups of four, depending on who was getting along best and then four leads were to be held in each hand.
Adam, the PetLondon animal handler practises for the shot with all 8 dogs being called towards the camera on cue.
The photographer for this shoot was Joseph Sinclair Being a dog owner himself he was great to work with and created a calm and friendly atmosphere for the animals.
It was a very short turnaround time since the magazine was due to be published in just two weeks after the photoshoot. Often in this industry there are much longer lead times and we have to wait months and months before the shots are released.
The credits for all the images below go to Joseph Sinclair and Attitude Magazine. We think they are fabulous and everyone involved did a fantastic job.

To coincide with the launch of their new Roller Lash Mascara, Benefit planned an extensive campaign to take place across London. They had models, vintage cars and pop up beauty parlours- all they needed was a furry star!
We shortlisted some of our most glamorous looking dogs for the job, and in the end it was Moomin’s flowing locks that captured the client’s imagination. Moomin is an Old English Sheepdog, with a great temperament she loves being the centre of attention so who better to take this role.
Moomin the Sheepdog starred alongside ten female models in a retro style campaing for Benefit. Adored by all the other models, Moomin was the star of the show. Spending the day promoting Benefit with fabulous photoshoot at the Roller lash bar in Soho. The Benefit Curl’s Best Friend pop-up, is a three-storey bar situated in Soho’s Greek Street. It will re-create the feel of a 1950s beauty parlour.
Alongside four of her furriest friends, Moomin also got to take part in the launch of Benefit Cosmetics new product range in Debenhams. They took to a very rainy Oxford Street to meet customers- the abismal weather didn’t dampen the mood and they all had heaps of fun on this unusual day out. Their presence uplifted the customers and certainly helped with sales.
It was a pleasure spending some time with them..I ended up buying not but two mascaras! Loving my eyes! Customer comment
In Moomin’s final role for Benefit Cosmetics, she was seen live on QVC launching the product on air and helping to smash sales records
Moomin had a fantastic time and we think you will agree, she looked simply beautiful.
Yes, I know, in today’s busy world you probably barely have time to brush your own teeth so the thought of having to do your pets too might sound like a lot of work but seriously when you think about it….. It is just about 180 seconds of your day that could make a huge difference to the health and life span of your furry friend.
Try to get into a routine where you brush your animals teeth in the evening after they have finished eating for the day. It’s a good idea to do it around the same time as you do your own nightly brush. That way you are more likely to remember. Keep your pets toothbrush in your bathroom where you will be likely to see it each night as a reminder.
You can use a special pet toothbrush. There are lots of different kinds available to suit different types of dog or cat. The main choices are; finger toothbrush, tiny toothbrush or a dual headed brush that covers both at once. Then you need to select a pet toothpaste. Make sure you check the scent of this, meat flavoured ones might not lead to very pleasant breath! Its best to look for one that is minty or vanilla for sweeter puppy kisses.
Brush your pets teeth just as you would your own. They don’t need to rinse . However make sure you carefully rinse out their brush under water each time you use it to avoid it getting stiff and also to keep it clean.
In an ideal world you would brush your pets teeth EVERY day but if you can manage even 3-4 times a week then you are doing better than most. For those of you who want another option, on nights when you cannot manage a full brush you can use a pet tooth wipe which is a 20 second quick solution that is better than doing nothing at all.
Once you start teeth brushing into your dog or cats routine you should notice a number of key benefits. Your dog or cat will have cleaner teeth and plaque will build up less quickly. This should mean better breath and less visits to the veterinarian for teeth cleaning over their lifetime. The teeth and gumline affect the whole health of your pet and most people are unaware that bad teeth can cause pain (which your pet cannot tell you about) and lead to other dangerous conditions such as heart problems.
Do your pet a favour and try to start today!

New for Autumn/Winter 2015, the Polaris Hoodie is already becoming a firm favourite with our customers. Available in a dusky pink or a soft oatmeal and brown, the Polaris is made of a very simple herringbone patterned material. Each hoodie has a small and understated fleecy star on the back- which is how it earned its magical name! A single button can be fastened around the neck for a chic look, or left undone to give your dog a little more room.
The same super soft cotton fleece used for the star has also been incorporated into the lining, hood and sleeves. This gives the hoodie long-lasting softness and a touch of stretch. Designed with premium comfort in mind, the cotton fleece is extremely high quality which is guaranteed to make your dog even more cuddly than normal! Another cosy design feature in the Polaris is the ribbed bottom. This little touch is found across the Puppia range, and helps make sure the sweater has a snug and secure fit.
As well as being soft, elegant and comfortable, the Polaris is functional. It is one of a few Puppia items that come with a leash hole. Nestled at the top of the jumper- just under the hood- the leash hole means you can easily slip it on over the top of a harness and clip your lead through the hole. This makes it the perfect everyday choice for walks outside, especially as the weather gets colder.
To complete the look, Puppia have also released two matching harnesses this season. The Witta Harness A follows their internationally loved Harness design- easy to pull over the head, the Witta puts no strain on your dog’s neck and has a comfortable and supportive fit. Available in the same neutral pink and brown colours as the Polaris hoodie, the Witta is made of a similar herringbone patterned material. Perfect for the cold London weather, the harness is edged with luxurious cotton fleece material which helps keep in the warmth.
Also available is the Witta Jacket Harness. The Jacket is made of the same elegant fabric and soft, cotton fleece trim. Popular with broad chested dogs, the Jacket does not need to be pulled over the head and is easy to step into and adjust.
Whichever style your pet prefers, the Witta looks very chic and smart paired with the cosy Polaris Hoodie- and of course there is a matching lead!
The Polaris range is available to buy online or in store today.
