101 Dalmatians + Friends for Cath Kidston

At 7am, Shelton Street, nestled in the heart of Covent Garden, is usually a quiet and tranquil place, with commuters walking to the tube in the early morning sunshine, a couple of joggers pounding the pavements and coffee shops just opening up their shutters; however, here at PetLondon Models we knew this wouldn’t be the case as we were tasked in providing 25 dogs for the launch of Cath Kidston’s brand new 101 Dalmatian range in collaboration with Disney.

Our assignment was to provide 6 Dalmatians to be stars of the show, with 20 other dogs of varying sizes, ages and breeds to support them. Even though not close to the 101, it sure felt like it, as it was possibly a record number of dogs in one location at one time in recent history for PetLondon Models.

Forming an orderly queue…

The 6 Dalmatian stars rose very early with their owners to get over to Covent Garden. For the participants it was a great experience. “We as owners, were a little nervous on arrival not really knowing what to expect!” said Celia, the owner of Suzy and Bebe. “We were put at ease immediately by the warm welcome to both ourselves and the dallies and was impressed with Adams professional handling of all the dogs.”

The Dalmatians came from near and far, very reminiscent of the film, to partake in the earlier part of shoot taking place in the store itself. Below from left to right we have the six superstars: Roo, Bebe, Suzy, Dolly, Mylo & Domino. We had a truly magical tear-jerking Disney moment, as Mylo & Domino found out they were siblings and have been reunited years later on this shoot. After the shoot was done, they were seen walking side-by-side to go for some brunch and a paw-to-heart.

The goal of the shoot was to get some amazing shots of the Dalmatians in store and outside the store in some fun and candid setups. This included Bebe placing her paws on the counter pretending to pay for her goods, Roo walking out the shop happy as can be with a shopping bag in this mouth and a couple of the models sniffing around the shop itself looking at the Dalmatian emblazoned merchandise.

The Disney range itself is very varied with different designs and motives across a wide range of products; from tote bags to umbrellas, purses to socks, pyjamas to aprons each is classically Dalmatian themed, both for adults and kids alike. The range is available across all stores and online for the UK, and in selected international outlets. Please check here.

Whilst this was taking place, in a courtyard just around the corner, the rest of the supporting cast and crew arrived. Not only did we have twenty dogs, but also one human model for every animal. The cast included a range of typical dogs seen out shopping on your local high-street, so we had a varied collection of supporting cast including: Poodles, French bulldogs, Pugs, Jack Russell, Sausage Dogs, Spaniels and a lot more aside! The models were to each have a canine companion for the duration of the shoot. The dogs definitely chose their new pet parent for that morning and after a lot tail wagging and sniffing , we were ready to start the second part of the shoot taking place outside the store.

Models getting to know their new pet parents

The aesthetic was to line them up along the shop front with the Dalmatians at the front of the line, with each dog and their model forming a somewhat orderly queue behind. It was a very high energy set with so many models both human and canine together, but some amazing shots were taken. Lots of squeaking, clapping, barking and cheering to get the attention of the dogs. After some readjustments and repositioning of certain dogs, the camera team was able to snap some fantastic shots.

Getting the pawww-fect shot

The hallmark of any successful job is finishing early, and this assignment finished a full 60 minutes ahead of schedule. All the dogs were pawfectly awesome and were as good as gold considering all the excitement.

Mucky Pup Teddy for Persil

Persil UK contacted PetLondon Models to find them a puppy to star in their brand new  #Willitclean online ads.  Persil is the UK’s leading brand of laundry detergent products and known both across Europe and international markets. They required one highly trained dog who wasn’t afraid to dirty and leave muddy puppy paw prints all across the set. After much deliberation and a casting video being the deciding factor between the finalists, the winner was chosen! It was superb Teddy a Cavalier cross Bichon, who became the star of the show.

Ever since they first met, when Teddy was a three month old puppy; Teddy and Jade, his owner, have been the best of friends. Ever since he was at puppy training academy, he’s been praised by all for his eagerness to learn and his ability to pick things up very quickly.  The reward for learning new tricks is a winning combination of organic dog treats and his beloved tennis balls. Teddy’s passion for the fuzzy yellow balls is something to behold and it’s a well-known fact his love for them is second to none.

Teddy took to his new found stardom extremely well and produced a stellar performance; his chatty and vocal personality optimised by the cutest bark ever as seen in the advert itself. Teddy’s curious nature meant he got into a little bit of trouble when he started eating the pot of mud that was intended for his coat, but I think we will forgive him for being so utterly adorable.

In the shot where his back is turned from the camera, Jade used his favourite toy to distract him as his  inquisitive mind wanted to explore the action that was going on behind him and the camera.

All in all, Teddy produced a top notch performance and enjoyed the whole experience. I don’t think anyone can resist being the centre of attention, surrounded by adoring fans and treats. We have been reliably informed that he can’t wait to get in front of the camera again to ‘wow’ audiences worldwide with his trusty tennis ball close by.

Hudson and Bertie for River Island

River Island have recently started an exciting new venture into dog clothing and accessories and contacted PetLondon Models for two dogs to promote the new range . They required two friendly, photogenic pooches who matched the specific sizes of the products. Lots of our fabulous dogs were suggested, and after much deliberation, the two lucky pups selected were Bertie the Pug and Hudson the Shih Poo.

Bertie the pug is no stranger to the camera, having previously taken part in a shoot for Mattel. He loves to work with other dogs and is very well socialised, and has an impressive skill set for such a young pooch. Shih Poo Hudson is as equally as friendly and talented, and when he is picked up he will wrap his paws around you and cuddle back! Both dogs are very happy modelling clothes, which comes across in the photos as both pups look very comfortable in the range of stunning garments.

The exclusive River Island Pet Apparel Collection features nine items, including cable knit sweaters, a bomber jacket, collars and matching leads. Hudson and Bertie look fantastic in the clothes, and did a great job of showing off the new range.

There has been a lot of media attention surrounding the RI Dog launch, with several articles released from publications including The Independent and The Daily Mail. The images of Bertie and Hudson also appeared on ITV’s Lorraine, promoting the collection and showing off some of the wonderful photos from the shoot. The collection has so far proved incredibly popular, with sizes selling out fast and people taking to social media to share their excitement.

The RI Dog range is available both online and in selected stores, including the flagship branch on Oxford Street. Sizes come in Small, Medium and Large, and are perfect Christmas gifts for your canine friends!

Great job Bertie and Hudson, you both performed outstandingly!

Bulldogs and Hummus!

A casting call came in for a great looking male Bulldog who would get on well with children and was able to literally eat out of their hands by licking their fingers! This job was for Sabra for a commercial they were filming in London.

PetLondon Models had the ideal Bulldog for this client. Sweet Louie is a loveable 5 year old English Bulldog who gives a great high five amongst a host of other skills. He resides in London with his human siblings who are both youngsters.

Sabra Dipping Company, LLC is a U.S.-based company which produces food products including dips, salsa and spread and one of their most popular lines is their classic hummus.

The commercial was to promote “The Unofficial Meal™”. As they explained; Call it “The thing before the thing.” Call it “Appy hour.” Heck, call it whatever you want. We’ll call it “The Unofficial Meal™.” And we promise it’ll be the best-tasting meal of the day.

An upbeat and lively ad the cast consisted of a group adults and kids and the star of the show, a Bulldog named “Josephine” played by Louie.

Louie was chilled out on set and was not phased by the lights or cameras, just like a true professional….

Louie tried out lots of different actions but the winning formula was his signature high five. We are delighted to share with you the footage below showing him in action.

Louie was loved by everyone on set and received a great review from the booking agency “Thank you so much to Sina and Louie today. He’s amazing, he was just wandering around being chilled and letting everyone pet him. Everyone loved him especially our American clients”.

Bulldogs and Louie in particular are in high demand (they are one of PetLondon Models top 10 requested breeds!) so watch this space to hear more about his adventures!

Moomin’s Transformation into Pin-up Star

To coincide with the launch of their new Roller Lash Mascara, Benefit planned an extensive campaign to take place across London. They had models, vintage cars and pop up beauty parlours- all they needed was a furry star!

We shortlisted some of our most glamorous looking dogs for the job, and in the end it was Moomin’s flowing locks that captured the client’s imagination. Moomin is an Old English Sheepdog, with a great temperament she loves being the centre of attention so who better to take this role.

Moomin the Sheepdog starred alongside ten female models in a retro style campaing for Benefit. Adored by all the other models, Moomin was the star of the show. Spending the day promoting Benefit with  fabulous photoshoot at the Roller lash bar in Soho. The Benefit Curl’s Best Friend pop-up, is a three-storey bar situated in Soho’s Greek Street. It will re-create the feel of a 1950s beauty parlour.

Alongside four of her furriest friends, Moomin also got to take part in the launch of Benefit Cosmetics new product range in Debenhams. They took to a very rainy Oxford Street to meet customers- the abismal weather didn’t dampen the mood and they all had heaps of fun on this unusual day out. Their presence uplifted the customers and certainly helped with sales.
