Toby & Ted’s Big Adventure for Boden

As part of PetLondon Models continual work with British Fashion house Boden, we were tasked with supplying two classic breeds that originated from north of the Border. The two breeds selected for this specifically for the rural aesthetic of the shoot. The two breeds chosen are much deliberation were the West Highland Terrier and the Scottish Terrier.

Toby the Scottish Terrier and Ted, the West Highland Terrier were chosen for this hardy outdoors photoshoot. Two terriers teamed up together as part of Boden’s Autumn  & Winter ’17 campaign.

On this morning, however PetLondon Models were to take over. Both had a early breakfast to get to the 9am start time, but both were excited for the opportunity to perform. Once legs had been stretched and sniffed out the situation both models took new surroundings superbly.

After some initial tail wagging and getting to know each other, the models became the best of friends. The two breeds, similar in size, age and temperament loved to chill out during the downtime and even enjoyed the same chicken treats.

The photoshoot was an incredible success for all involved. The humans were sad to see the two superstars leave at the end of the day.

A super day out for the two models in a breathtakingly beautiful surroundings. We are always looking for new modelling talent! If you think your pet has what it takes email: office@petlondon.com or call 02075807580.

Definitive Insider Industry Guide To Making Your Pet Instafamous

PetLondon Models, since its foundation over 10 years ago has propelled more pets to stardom than any other animal agency in the UK. In response with the explosively rapid growth over the last couple of years for marketers and brands across all sectors wanting to use fido or feline social media superstars, we created our exclusive Instafamous Pets Division.

This is the definitive industry insider guide on how to make your pet both Instagram famous with thousands of followers but how this can translate into being a successful animal model. This guide includes in-depth and essential considerations gleamed both from our extensive professional experience, as well as top tips from social media superstars themselves.

  1. Make it fun for everyone involved

Set out on this journey with the key intention of having fun, first and foremost. The best social media stars start with the owners wanting to create, strengthen their bonds with their pet and to share special memories.

This must be translated into the whole experience where you must reward regularly your budding Instagram star for their hard work with lots of attention. Whether it be a treat, a new toy or jacket, or just some good old fashioned playtime; let them be who they are and express themselves!

Two dogs playing with a ball.

  1. Find your Thing

Take a note from the huge social media stars, sharing a story through their passions and interests is key to starting out. No matter what your interest, find a way in experiencing your passions together.

Insta-famous dogs have been seen doing everything from dressing up and making music videos, reviewing amazing dog friendly restaurants in your city, posing in front of amazing visits and places or helping you to beat your best 5Km  time on a Saturday morning.

  1. Post, Post & Post some More

No one will follow a profile with only eight photos, with a couple of them in low lighting. Save up a collection of pics taken over a couple of months. We use Iphone’s Portrait mode to snap some good quality photos, but maybe invest in a SLR camera if you plan to snap in some challenging environments!

Like anything in life, consistency and persistence is key. Planning some shots and sticking to a schedule, you will quickly reap the rewards. Link your account with Instagram’s analytic programmes to see insights on timings and audiences. Remember where in the world you audience might be and post accordingly.

Mix it up! Instagram not only has the capacity to post single or multiple photos, but also there are videos, looping boomerangs, stories, and live recordings. Differentiating posts and keeping it fresh is bound to excite and attract new followers. Give your captions a tone and a voice, some of the best use very innovative methods of communication mimicking perfectly how they think their pet will sound.

Don’t forget to use hashtags, have a look at what similar profiles are posting. Videos always gain more intentions than photos as well. An insider tip is to use  a mixture of specific and generic hashtags in a process known as laddering.

  1. Become a PR Networking Professional

Akin to your professional and personal life, it’s vital to your pet’s budding social media journey is to get out there and to attract people’s attention… both digitally and in real life.

From heading to dog meetups in your local area, attending social media conferences and contacting on twitter key industry and influencer professionals, there are a multitude of ways.

For example, PetLondon Models visited both Pupaid in Primrose Hill and Chiswick Dog Show, to market our agency and meet potential stars living in the local neighbourhood. We even had one dog, give us a business card with his social media handles!

maxresdefault.jpg

Collaborating with other dog owners with a similar number of followers of your creates an amazing buzz, allowing to post some cool photos and make some friends in the process!

The more you interact online, with all types of people, who knows what successes lie ahead will be in the long run. We have recruited models from Instagram ourselves(@petlondonmodels).

  1. Training and becoming a Instafamous Model

A strong sit and stay command in extremely stimulating and challenging environments. It make this fame-seeking task easier and more efficient  but you’ve got to teach your pet to actually enjoy posing for the camera. Using toys or treats are always good, but with the right training your pet could perform tens of tricks.

These skills are extremely transferable to being a model and part of our agency.

We have worked with the biggest names in the business from Disney to The Sunday Times, from Burberry to Virgin Media. Being part of our agency means exclusive access in being shortlisted or booked for biggest advertising, marketing and PR campaigns with globally renowned brands.

2

In September 2017, Cineworld asked specifically for Instafamous Pugs for a campaign.

What’s better exposure them being on a national TV advert campaign or seeing your super-star in the pages of a national newspaper? We stress again that do not make your pet do anything they don’t want to do. Patience, peristence and positive reinforcement are the cornerstones to success.

Henry’s Silver Screen Performance

PetLondon was tasked with a very special assignment to find a cute and fluffy dog to perform in a celebrity studded role for Michael Giacchino’s 50th birthday concert that took place at the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington on Friday, 20th October. Henry the Poochon was chosen, as a cute and cuddly dog for a skit taken place during the evening’s performance.

IMG_4833 (1)

You will have definitely heard of Michael Giacchino’s work, but not in the conventional sense on the radio. You will hear his music filling living rooms and cinemas across the world. He is a world famous and multiple award winning composer of music for TV, film and video games.

IMG_4859

He composed the scores to the television series: Lost, Alias and Fringe, for video games series such as Call of Duty and many films such as: The Incredibles, Mission: Impossible III, Ratatouille, Star Trek, Up, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes & Jurassic World, & Star Wars Rogue One just to name a few.

The multi award-winning composer performed for one night only taking a rare glimpse  at the magic behind the magic with never-before-seen footage from his childhood and early career. During the evening the compositions were placed with film clips.

Henry the Poo-chon, was very excited with the whole event. He got to spend the day in London, sniffing out all the good spots in Kensington. His owner Nicola, was extremely proud and honoured ‘to be part of such a great production with such talented people… at arguably the most stunning and prestigious theatre in the world’.

IMG_4849 (1)

He was joined by this friends and colleagues, such as J.J. Abrams, Brad Bird, Pete Docter, Gareth Edwards, Andrew Stanton & Colin Trevorrow with Ludwig Wicki of the Cinematic Sinfonia sharing the conducting and the English Chamber Choir perform the eclectic program.

Henry had his own dressing room and enjoyed playing fetch in the dressing room until rehearsal time. Henry was treated just like all of the other stars that have walked the boards of the historic venue. How many people, yet alone a puppy can say that they’ve had that!

As part of a short comedy sketch in the show, Gonzo (from the Muppet’s fame), J.J. Abrams & Pete Docter conducted a short skit with Henry. Pete was pulling on a rope that was supposed to be attached to a big heavy cow behind the curtain. He then climbed the down the stairs at the side of the stage to get the animal to ‘Moo-ve’ and out came Henry instead. The crowd went wild for Henry with ‘ooohs’ and ‘awww’ from the audience.

IMG_4828 (1)

Henry was adored by all, with everyone commenting on how well he behaved. Nicola said ‘It was an amazing experience from start to finish. I’m a very proud dog mum! Pawliwood here we come.’

The Fluffiest Café in the World

The Guinness Book of Records is a reference book published annually, listing world records both of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world. For the launch of Guinness World Records: Amazing Animals Book, celebrating the world’s most fur-nomenal creatures and pets, PetLondon Models was involved with finding the fluffiest contenders for a fantastically fun furry pop up event and café called Amazing Animals: Fluffytorium.

According to Guinness World Records, they did some research and found that only a third of pet owners in Britain would consider having a long-haired pet – put off by moulted hair. To counter this, the Fluffytorium set out to celebrate all things fluffy! PetLondon Models was tasked to find their fluffiest of feline and canine models.

172

Taking place over several days, the Fluffytorium’s concept was to bring people together during half-term to cuddle and play with some of our fluffiest models in a spectacular fur-filled wonderland. Many people in the capital live in small apartments or rented accommodation where large fluffy animals are not a viable option. This pop up café gave people the opportunity to experience crazy amounts of fluffy.

The Fluffytorium took place at #2, Soho Square, London. The venue was magically transformed into a fantastically fluffy space with fur covering every single inch of the floors, walls and ceiling. The outside featured fur lined columns and grates, a green fluffy lawn with a human sized furry dog house place outside for passers by.

Groups of lucky people were able to book tickets to spend an hour in the Fluffytorium sipping freshly made milkshakes and petting the animal models.

The first day was a feline filled affair with a family of seven spectacular Maine Coons. These cats are well known for their long fluffy coats, bred to withstand the cold temperatures on the farms and ships bound for the Americas. The breed is also known for being incredibly communicative and sociable, the perfect group for the Fluffytorium. The family of seven as you can see from the photos were completely at home.

32

They were supported by Hechi & Perla, who became the best of friends, chilling out with each other on the sofa. They had never met before and they thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company.

The second day was the day for the dogs to shine. On the day itself, the four legged friends chosen by the client were a range from the teeny tiny to large. From smallest to largest our fluffy balls were: Bella, the Pomeranian, Henry, the Poochon, Milan, the poodle, Zog & Yogi, a pair of Chow Chows.

As you can see all the models took this in their stride, enjoying all the extra attention and treats during the day. The response received by the press was outstanding, receiving coverage in major national newspapers and magazines. The Facebook video alone promoting the Fluffytorium from TimeOut London has to date received over 21,000 likes.

The Fluffytorium was a pop up event for the launch of the Guinness Book of Records: Amazing Animals, which puts the spolight on the world’s craziest creatures, peculiar pets, wacky wildlife and cute critters.

We would like to congratulate the models and their owners. A lot of work went into the behind the scenes for this assignment and we couldn’t have done it without them!

Burlington Socks

Burlington Socks contacted PetLondon Models in order to book a few different and striking dog models to pose in a fun yet quirky shots alongside some human models to post on their Instagram and to placed throughout the online store.

Their brief tasked us to suggest some striking dog models to compliment their new vivid colour patterns & designs and wacky models for their completely new collection.

Burlington Socks is a well established global sock brand, well known for their classic argyll patterning and more recently their bright and bold colours. Since 2013, Burlington has been owned by a German company and re-launched as such.

1

They did want to though keep the English heritage, by shooting in a London location, as seen in the photo above.

After careful consideration five models were chosen:

  • Iraida, a graceful Afghan hound
  • Collin, a stocky English Bull Terrier
  • Eric, a regal Great Dane
  • Lilah, a fluffy Shar Pei
  • Boycie, English Bulldog

The sets were constructed both inside the house and outside on the road were spectacular. The décor inside each room differed but coordinated to a slightly alternative 1930s nostalgia. Appliances and common household items intertwine with metallic futuristic objects. The models were dressed creatively to highlight the uniqueness of the socks whilst posing with their four legged companion.

We captured a few behind the scenes, to give you a look of what happens whilst the models are chilling out. It usually involves lots of treats and cuddles!

Here are a selection of the final photos that were either displayed on Burlington Socks Instagram page or throughout their website: www.burlington.de.

Collin sure seems to be enjoying himself both on and off lead!

Boycie being a rebel on the motorbike and relaxing in the classic Bulldog sitting pose

Lilah, both posing and playful in some wonderfully candid shots

Iraida, the elegant Afghan hound showing off her fun side

Big boy Eric, forming a long lasting relationship with her owner

Overall, a fantastic showcase from all our models, demonstrating how animals can creatively fit into any campaign, no matter what the product or market.

A big congratulations to all involved and we can’t wait for something else like this to come along.

Border Collies & Brogues – Manolo Blahnik

PetLondon was tasked to find a variety of fashionista dogs for an internationally renowned shoe designer…Manolo Blahnik. PetLondon Models have worked with major fashion houses including Chanel, Stella McCartney,  Mulberry & Burberry in the past; so  PetLondon certainly had the talent for this exciting assignment.

Manolo Blahnik is a Spanish fashion designer best known for his signature line of high-end women’s footwear. Blahnik is perhaps best known for designing delicate and lightweight stiletto heels that have become iconic footwear.

Interestingly, the photoshoot was for promotion on Manolo Blahnik’s new globally renowned creations on the company’s Instagram account. The shot were posted as a ‘Boomerangs’ where the film is looped backwards and forwards. Boomerang is a fairly new app from social media giant Instagram that breaks the boundaries on what social media content is supposed to be. You can see what we are talking about below. We think the effects created with the shoes and dog models are fantastically engaging.

For this shoot the client wanted to match dogs to the particular shoes in the new range.  PetLondon Models was given a brief based on a specific breed wish list and then the casting process began,From the fluffy Pelosurafo slippers to the pink Armida stilettos; the Manolo Blahnik team carefully considered a large number of dogs to perfectly compliment the aesthetics they were searching for.

In the end the animal models assigned were:

  • Eric, a fluffy Border Collie
  • Mylo, a graceful Dalmatian
  • Louis, an elegant Afghan Hound
  • Clover, an inquisitive Spaniel
  • Pip, a playful West Highland Terrier
  • Emma, a soulful Weimaraner

In 1970, a young Blahnik had a chance to meet Diana Vreeland, the editor-in-chief of U.S Vogue, while he was travelling in New York. He then presented his portfolio of fashions and set designs to Vreeland who admired his shoe sketches and advised him to concentrate on designing footwear. Blahnik followed her advice and worked on designing shoes.

Blahnik became the second man ever to be featured on the cover of U.K. Vogue. In 1977, he sold his shoes in America, through Bloomingdales, and opened his boutique in the U.S. Since then, he has become a very famous shoe designer, and a symbol of pure classic style for the 21st century.

Barry for Virgin Media

PetLondon Models were approached by Virgin Media, looking for a special dog to be filmed for their social media to promote their new on the go service. The lucky pooch chosen was Barry the pug, a happy pup who loves to meet new people and has a wide range of talents, including playing football.

Barry the pug.jpg

Barry: Blue Steel

The shoot took place at Jet Studios in South West London, and Barry and his owners arrived with time for a quick pit stop to get an energy boost before the shoot began.

Barry chilling out before the excitement

Since the shoot was promoting Virgin Media’s on-the-go service, Barry posed with a range of props, including a laptop, tablet and smartphone.

Barry got to walk his own pug sized red carpet, and looked the part in his wonderful tuxedo. He showed the crew his skill set, walking down the red carpet and stopping on command.

Barry also showed off his remarkable footballing talents, dressed in his red tracksuit. He also lounged in a bean bag as part of the shoot, which was a well needed rest from all the walking and running!

img-20161122-wa0050-2

After working so hard, by the end of the day Barry was one very tired pug! By the last scene he was exhausted, and had a well deserved shut eye. The crew were so impressed with Barry they gave him a huge round of applause at the end of the shoot.

IMG-20161122-WA0038-2.jpg

Barry did an amazing job, and the client was incredibly impressed, contacting us to say: “I also wanted you to pass on my thanks to Barry’s humans for all their hard work and his. He really pulled it out the bag on Tuesday and was very well behaved and performed fantastically for the camera.”

Here is a clip of the final video.

Keep an eye out for Barry on Virgin Media’s social networks!

Mercure Hotels

PetLondon was tasked to find some four legged friends for the launch of a new room service for dogs. The luxury hotel chain, Mercure, got in contact to find some models for the promotional photoshoot and the filming for the new Pawsome delights on offer at their Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa.

Nala II.jpg

Research by the hotel brand found 33% of dog owners miss out on going away because of their pets and 41% feel guilty when they do travel. The hotel collection has introduced the Happy Tails package, masterminded by Head Pet Nutritionist at AniForte, Katrin Scholz, at selected hotels within their group.

The hotel chain wanted a variety of sizes, to highlight that dogs of all sizes, ages and shapes were welcome. After much consideration, they chose four dogs. These were: Nala, the Pug, Brinkley, the American Cocker Spaniel, Pip, the West Highland Terrier & Scotty, the Golden Retriever.

The filming took place across the whole hotel complex, including a group shot on the beautiful grounds. From panning group shots in the lobby to action sequences outside, all the dogs performed superbly to all the tasks at hand. I think Nala, especially enjoyed one of her filming scenes.. She told us it was the easiest day on set ever! (See photo below).

Nala, enjoying the finer things in life

Similarly, Brinkley, modelled beautifully in one of Mercure’s dog friendly room. He was definitely the perfect actor;  ‘pretending’ to soundly snooze for the photograph. Every little touch has been thought of to make the stay as pleasurable for the canine companions, such as the matching dog bowl and ball that matched the carpet and bed frame.

Hotel bedroom (Mecure Hotels/PA)

At lunchtime, all the dogs headed to the dining room to shoot the Happy Tails package.  The nutritious menu had been designed just for dogs and includes salmon sashimi, beef tartar and ‘clean eating’ chicken with carrots and apples if your dog prefers to eat lighter on their holiday.

101 Dalmatians + Friends for Cath Kidston

At 7am, Shelton Street, nestled in the heart of Covent Garden, is usually a quiet and tranquil place, with commuters walking to the tube in the early morning sunshine, a couple of joggers pounding the pavements and coffee shops just opening up their shutters; however, here at PetLondon Models we knew this wouldn’t be the case as we were tasked in providing 25 dogs for the launch of Cath Kidston’s brand new 101 Dalmatian range in collaboration with Disney.

cathkidstondalmatians2

Queuing up to Checkout

Our assignment was to provide 6 Dalmatians to be stars of the show, with 20 other dogs of varying sizes, ages and breeds to support them. Even though not close to the 101, it sure felt like it, as it was possibly a record number of dogs in one location at one time in recent history for PetLondon Models.

IMG_5272

Forming an orderly queue…

The 6 Dalmatian stars rose very early with their owners to get over to Covent Garden. For the participants it was a great experience. “We as owners, were a little nervous on arrival not really knowing what to expect!” said Celia, the owner of Suzy and Bebe. “We were put at ease immediately by the warm welcome to both ourselves and the dallies and was impressed with Adams professional handling of all the dogs.”

The Dalmatians came from near and far, very reminiscent of the film, to partake in the earlier part of shoot taking place in the store itself. Below from left to right we have the six superstars: Roo, Bebe, Suzy, Dolly, Mylo & Domino. We had a truly magical tear-jerking Disney moment, as Mylo & Domino found out they were siblings and have been reunited years later on this shoot. After the shoot was done, they were seen walking side-by-side to go for some brunch and a paw-to-heart.

DSC_0418.JPG

Mylo and Domino litter siblings united after years apart!

The goal of the shoot was to get some amazing shots of the Dalmatians in store and outside the store in some fun and candid setups. This included Bebe placing her paws on the counter pretending to pay for her goods, Roo walking out the shop happy as can be with a shopping bag in this mouth and a couple of the models sniffing around the shop itself looking at the Dalmatian emblazoned merchandise.

cath-kidstondalmatians1

The Disney range itself is very varied with different designs and motives across a wide range of products; from tote bags to umbrellas, purses to socks, pyjamas to aprons each is classically Dalmatian themed, both for adults and kids alike. The range is available across all stores and online for the UK, and in selected international outlets. Please check here.

Whilst this was taking place, in a courtyard just around the corner, the rest of the supporting cast and crew arrived. Not only did we have twenty dogs, but also one human model for every animal. The cast included a range of typical dogs seen out shopping on your local high-street, so we had a varied collection of supporting cast including: Poodles, French bulldogs, Pugs, Jack Russell, Sausage Dogs, Spaniels and a lot more aside! The models were to each have a canine companion for the duration of the shoot. The dogs definitely chose their new pet parent for that morning and after a lot tail wagging and sniffing , we were ready to start the second part of the shoot taking place outside the store.

Models getting to know their new pet parents

The aesthetic was to line them up along the shop front with the Dalmatians at the front of the line, with each dog and their model forming a somewhat orderly queue behind. It was a very high energy set with so many models both human and canine together, but some amazing shots were taken. Lots of squeaking, clapping, barking and cheering to get the attention of the dogs. After some readjustments and repositioning of certain dogs, the camera team was able to snap some fantastic shots.

IMG_5267.JPG

Getting the pawww-fect shot

The hallmark of any successful job is finishing early, and this assignment finished a full 60 minutes ahead of schedule. All the dogs were pawfectly awesome and were as good as gold considering all the excitement.
